Privacy Notice

What data we collect, what we use it for, and what control you have over it.

Last updated: October 11, 2026

This notice explains how Per Se ("we") handles the personal information of people who use the Per Se website and application (the "Service"). It is written to be understood: if anything is unclear, write to us at perseamobileapp@gmail.com.

Per Se is not a law firm and does not provide legal advice. Information you share with us is NOT protected by attorney-client privilege. A court, an opposing party, or a third party could potentially request it in a proceeding. Keep this firmly in mind before entering sensitive details about your case.

1. Who is responsible for your data

Controller: Per Se, located at Los Angeles, California, United States. Privacy contact: perseamobileapp@gmail.com.

2. What information we collect

2.1 Information you give us when you register

  • Full name.
  • Email address.
  • Phone number, if you choose to provide it.
  • Password. We never see or store it in readable form: our authentication provider stores only a cryptographic hash.

2.2 Information you generate by using the Service

  • Your case questionnaire answers: matter type, family situation, hearing dates, and other information you enter into the assistant. We store it with your account so you can pick up where you left off.
  • Your recommended form list and each form's status (pending, downloaded, completed).
  • The files you upload and their contents. Organizing and storing your documents is one of the Service's core functions: when you upload a file, we store it in your account so you can view it, download it, and organize it whenever you want.
  • Each file's descriptive data: name, type, size, upload date, any notes you write, and the form you associate it with.
  • Language and theme (light or dark) preferences.

Your files are kept in a private area tied to your account. Only you, with your credentials, can view and download them. We provide the environment where they are stored and the information that goes with it; the content is yours.

2.3 Technical data

Our hosting provider automatically logs technical data for each visit: IP address, browser and device type, pages requested, date and time, and errors. This is used to operate the site, diagnose faults, and detect abuse. We also apply a per-IP request limit to blunt automated attacks.

3. What we do NOT do with your documents

Storing your files does not mean we do anything else with them. This section matters as much as the one above. As of today:

  • We do not read or review the contents of your documents. There is no team opening your files to assess, correct, or comment on them.
  • We do not show your documents to other users. There is no sharing feature, no shared folders, and no third-party access.
  • We do not hand your files to attorneys, courts, opposing parties, or anyone else. If someone tells you Per Se sent them your documents, it is not true.
  • We do not use your documents or your answers to train artificial intelligence models.
  • We use no analytics or advertising tracking tools. There is no Google Analytics, no social media pixels, and no third-party commercial cookies.
  • We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for advertising, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising.
  • We do not buy contact lists or obtain your data from outside sources.

Our staff does not access the contents of your files in the ordinary course. They could do so only exceptionally and narrowly in three cases: you expressly ask us to in order to resolve an issue, it is indispensable to repair a technical fault affecting your data, or a valid legal obligation requires it. Outside those cases, your document area is yours.

4. What we use your information for

  • Creating and maintaining your account, and authenticating you when you sign in.
  • Storing and organizing the documents you upload, and returning them to you when you request them from your account.
  • Generating your personalized form list and preserving your case progress.
  • Sending essential operational emails: registration confirmation, email verification, and password reset.
  • Keeping the Service secure, preventing fraud and abuse, and diagnosing technical errors.
  • Meeting legal obligations and responding to valid requests from authorities.

We will not send you marketing communications without your prior consent, and if we ever enable them you will be able to unsubscribe at any time from the email itself.

5. Who we share data with

We do not sell your data. We share it only with the providers we need to run the Service, and only to the extent necessary:

  • Supabase — authentication, database, and file storage. Stores your account, your questionnaire answers, your document records, and the files themselves, in a private space that is not publicly accessible.
  • Vercel — site hosting and server technical logs.
  • YouTube (Google) — only if you play an embedded video. At that point Google may set its own cookies and receive your IP address, under its privacy policy. If you never play a video, nothing is shared.
  • WhatsApp (Meta) — only if you tap the contact button. That opens the WhatsApp app or website, and from there the conversation is governed by Meta's policies, not this one.

We may also disclose information where the law requires it, under a valid court order, or to protect the rights, safety, or integrity of people and of the Service. If we ever sell or merge the business, your data could transfer to the acquirer; we would notify you before that happens.

6. Cookies and browser storage

We use strictly necessary technical storage only. There are no advertising or analytics cookies.

  • Session cookies, to keep you signed in while you use the Service.
  • Browser local storage, to remember your language, visual theme, and assistant progress before it is saved to your account.
  • YouTube cookies, only if you play an embedded video.

You can clear this storage from your browser settings. If you delete the session cookies you will need to sign in again.

Do Not Track signal: your browser may send this signal. We currently use no advertising or cross-site analytics tracking cookies, so there is nothing for that signal to change: we do not track you whether you send it or not. If that ever changes, we will say so here and respond to the signal as required by California's online privacy law (California Business and Professions Code §22575, "CalOPPA").

7. How long we keep your data

  • Account and case data: for as long as the account is active.
  • Documents you upload: for as long as you keep them in your account. You can delete any file at any time from the Service itself; when you do, we remove it from our active systems and it stops being available.
  • If you close your account: we delete your files along with the rest of your data. Download anything you want to keep first, because deletion is permanent and we will not be able to recover it.
  • After you request deletion: we remove data from our active systems within 30 days at most. Backups are overwritten on their normal cycles, which do not exceed 90 days.
  • Server technical logs: retained by our hosting provider for short periods, under its own policy.
  • We may retain what is strictly necessary to meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, or enforce our agreements.

8. Security

We apply reasonable technical measures: encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encryption at rest by our provider, passwords stored as hashes, row-level access control so each user can reach only their own records, browser security headers, and per-IP rate limiting.

Your files are held in private storage that is not indexable and not reachable through a public address. Each download is served through a temporary link generated for your session and tied to your account: without signing in, there is no way to reach your documents.

No system is completely secure. We cannot absolutely guarantee the security of information transmitted over the internet, and you are also responsible for protecting your password and not sharing your account.

If a security breach affecting your personal information occurs, we will notify you and the competent authorities within the timeframes required by applicable law, including California Civil Code section 1798.82.

9. Your rights if you live in California

The California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA, as amended by the CPRA) grants you the following rights:

  • To know what personal information we have collected about you, where it came from, what we use it for, and who we share it with.
  • To access a copy of that information in a portable format.
  • To correct inaccurate information.
  • To delete your personal information, subject to the exceptions the law itself allows.
  • To opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. We do not sell or share data, so there is nothing to opt out of, but the right is yours regardless.
  • To limit the use of sensitive personal information.
  • Not to be discriminated against for exercising any of these rights: we will not charge you more or give you a worse service.

To exercise them, write to perseamobileapp@gmail.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within 45 calendar days, extendable by another 45 if we tell you. You may designate an authorized agent; in that case we will ask for proof of authorization.

Global Privacy Control (GPC): we recognize and honor this signal when your browser sends it as a request to opt out of the sale or sharing of your information. Because we do not sell or share data for advertising, the signal does not change how we handle your data, but we honor it anyway as a valid expression of your preference.

If you live outside California, write to us anyway: we honor the same requests regardless of where you live.

10. Sensitive information

Given the nature of the Service, it is normal for you to store sensitive data: details of your family situation, information about your children, income declarations, or documents from a court proceeding. That is what the documents area is for, and it is why we protect it as described in section 8.

California law (the CPRA) defines certain categories as "sensitive personal information" that may appear within the documents you upload, even though we do not request them directly. These include:

  • Social security, tax ID, driver's license, passport, or immigration document numbers.
  • Financial account, debit card, or credit card numbers, along with any code or password that would permit access to the account.
  • Physical or mental health information.
  • Immigration status or citizenship, when it appears in the document.

We do not use this information for anything other than storing your document and returning it to you on request: we do not analyze it, profile it, or use it for advertising. That means we already limit its use, by design, to the minimum the law lets you require. You can request its deletion at any time by deleting the document or closing your account, per section 7.

Even so, keep two things in mind. First, no system is infallible: upload what you need to run your case, not your entire personal archive. Second, the constant in this Service: what you store here is not covered by attorney-client privilege.

Some California family law forms require highly sensitive data, such as account numbers or a social security number. If the court asks you for a version with that data redacted, keep in Per Se the copy you are going to file, not an extra version.

11. Minors

The Service is intended exclusively for people aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that we have obtained data from a child under 13, we will delete it immediately. If you are a parent or guardian and believe a minor has given us information, write to perseamobileapp@gmail.com.

You may mention your children in the context of your case. We treat that information as part of your data, not as data collected directly from a minor.

12. Where your data lives

Our providers operate infrastructure in the United States and may replicate data to other countries. If you access the Service from outside the United States, you understand that your information will be processed in the United States, whose data protection rules may differ from those of your country.

13. Changes to this notice

We may update this notice. The date of the latest revision appears at the top. If a change is significant, we will notify you by email or through a prominent notice in the Service before it takes effect.

14. Contact

For any question or to exercise your rights: perseamobileapp@gmail.com, or by mail to Per Se, Los Angeles, California, United States.
